Due to the Andes Mountains in Colombia branching into 3 cordilleras, there are large areas of land in Colombia that is described as alpine or high altitude. A number of species thrive at these higher altitudes and this makes the flora of Colombia quite interesting in that you can view a large variety of plants and flower species as you change altitude.
