Information      
El Poblado is the wealthiest district in Medellin. It consists of 24 barrios (suburbs) located at the south-east of the city. It is separated from the south west zone by the Medellín River. The suburbs rise up part of the eastern hill and many afford great views of Medellin below. The name El Poblado derives from the first Spaniard settlement in the Aburrá Valley in 1616.

The Medellín municipality records 66.5% of the housing in El Poblado belongs to the richest class known in Colombia as estrato 6, (;level 6); 27.5% belongs to the high-middle class (estrato 5); 4.2% belongs to the middle class; 1.3% to the low-middle class and 0.5% to the poor.
