Tunja photos

View of a government funded sub-division in Tunja.

Tunja is located in north central Colombia in the department of Boyaca at an elevation of 2,820 meters above sea level. The city was founded on August 6, 1539 by the Spanish captain, Gonzalo Suarez Rendon, in the domain of "El Zaque", one of the chiefs of the Muiscas tribe. One out of every five inhabitants of Tunja is a student.
