Caquetá is
a department located in the Amazonas region in southern Colombia. Caquetá borders with the departments of Cauca and Huila to the west, the department of Meta to the north, Guaviare to the northeast, Vaupés to the east, and Amazonas and Putumayo to the south covering a total area of 88,965 km². The department is the third largest in Colombia. The capital is the city of Florencia.
Florencia was founded on December 25, 1902 by Capuchin Friar Doroteo De Pupiales (1876-1959) Born in Pupiales, Nariño, Colombia. The city is located by the steps of the Cordillera Oriental mountain range. The municipality of Florencia shares a border in the north with the Huila Department and the municipality of El Paujil, to the east with the municipalities of El Paujil and La Montañita, to the south with the municipalities of Milán and Morelia, and the west with the municipality Belén de Andaquies and the Huila Department.
